PERSPECTIVE BLOCK PARTY

SATURDAY 3 AUGUST

5PM - 10PM

SITE #08

The 2019 Gertrude Street Projection Festival closing Block Party, entitled Perspective, will invite audiences to deepen their engagement with the Atherton Gardens Housing Estate through celebrating the communal spaces of import to young, creative leaders from the community.

Harnessing the vision of a group of emerging creative leaders from the housing estate, working with emerging Artists in Residence at Yarra Youth Services,  Perspective will deliver video, sound, performance and installation works to animate the interior of Atherton Gardens, beckoning audiences to a showcase of MC’s, producers, fashionistas and thespians who will light up the Atherton Gardens Basketball court.

Predicated upon the aesthetic understandings of a vanishing point, Perspective  will inspire audiences at this year’s festival to move beyond the external perspective of Atherton Gardens and journey into the estate’s communal sense of belonging.
